The Patient Score is an AI-driven metric in Dental Intelligence that helps your team identify which patients are most likely to schedule from an appointment invitation and keep the appointment. A percentage score is automatically calculated daily for each patient and is visible throughout multiple Dental Intelligence features — so your team can prioritize outreach and fill appointment slots faster, without any extra manual work.

Where to Find the Patient Score

A Patient Score column is available on every Action Items list, as well as in both the Scheduling Center and LiveOps® when scheduling or proposing appointments. It appears on the following lists:

  • Broken Appointment

  • Hygiene Past Due

  • Outstanding Treatment

  • ASAP

You can also see the Patient Score on appointment blocks directly within your LiveOps® day schedule.

How the Patient Score is Calculated

The AI algorithm calculates a percentage score for each patient daily. The score is based on the following attributes:

Likeliness to accept an appointment invitation

  • Percentage of accepted scheduling invites

  • Percentage of accepted scheduling proposals

  • Outstanding patient balance

  • Last appointment date

Likeliness to keep an appointment

  • Number of appointments confirmed

  • Percentage of appointments confirmed

  • Percentage of completed appointments

  • Outstanding patient balance

A higher percentage means the patient is a stronger match for your open appointment slot. A lower percentage indicates that a patient may be more likely to break their appointment or not accept presented treatment.

Best Practices for Using the Patient Score

Use these tips to get the most out of the Patient Score when filling open appointment slots:

  • Prioritize patients with higher percentages when you need to fill a slot quickly — they are the best match based on their treatment history and engagement patterns.

  • Reference the Patient Score alongside other filters (such as preferred appointment time or provider) to find the strongest overall match for a specific opening.

  • Scores update daily. Check the column each day before making outreach calls rather than relying on a list from a previous session.

Patient Score FAQs

Why is the Patient Score column blank?

If the Patient Score column is blank, consider the following:

  • The Patient Score is only available for Dental Intelligence Engagement or full bundle customers. If you do not have access to the Engagement module, the Patient Score column may appear blank.

  • If you have selected multiple locations in the Scheduling Center and the Patient Score column appears blank, certain locations may not have the Patient Score enabled, causing the column to be blank. Troubleshoot by removing locations one by one to determine which location(s) does not have Patient Score capabilities enabled.

  • For additional assistance with troubleshooting why the Patient Score is not showing up as expected in your Dental Intelligence portal, please contact our support team.

Why is the Patient Score so low?

A lower percentage indicates that a patient may be more likely to break their appointment or not accept presented treatment, based on the AI-driven calculation of the following attributes attached to the patient's chart history:

  • Percentage of accepted scheduling invites

  • Percentage of accepted scheduling proposals

  • Last appointment date

  • Number of appointments confirmed

  • Percentage of appointments confirmed

  • Percentage of completed appointments

  • Outstanding patient balance
