Team Chat

Learn how to use Team Chat to send individual and group messages and manage notifications and chat settings

Team Chat allows you and your team to send messages from your Dental Intelligence browser or via the Dental Intelligence mobile app.

Open Team Chat in a New Window for Easy Viewing

To keep Team Chat visible as you work, you might find it easier to have Team Chat open in another window. To do this, you'll need to install the Engagement Google Chrome extension.

Please note: This feature is available for Google Chrome users only.

  1. Click on Team Chat, then click on the pop-out icon

  2. Click on the message that appears in the upper right corner of your dashboard to install the Engagement extension

  3. In the new window that opens, click Add to Chrome. Click Add extension to begin the download

  4. The extension will download and a confirmation will show in your window when successful. When finished, refresh your Dental Intelligence dashboard

  5. After the page has refreshed, click on Team Chat. Click on the pop-out icon. The Team Chat messaging window will open in a new window from the Dental Intelligence dashboard


Send Individual Messages in Team Chat

Important note: You must have more than one (1) user set up in Dental Intelligence in order to utilize Team Chat. Each user must be given permission to access Team Chat. Learn more here.

  1. Click on the chat bubble icon

  2. Click on the pencil icon to create a new message

  3. Search for or select a team member to start a new chat

  4. Type your message and add gifs or emojis if desired

  5. Click Send


Sending Group Messages in Team Chat

  1. Click on the chat bubble icon, then click on the pencil icon to create a new message

  2. Click Create a new group

  3. Search for and select checkboxes next to team members to add them to the conversation group, then click Create

  4. Add a group name or choose one later

  5. Type your message and add gifs or emojis if desired

  6. Click Send

Troubleshooting messages that fail to send

If you encounter an issue with sending messages in Team Chat, please ensure that you have more than one (1) user set up in Engagement. Team Chat requires at least (2) Engagement users in order to send/receive chat messages.

Next, please contact your IT Support team and request that they whitelist the following URL: https://chat-us-east-1.stream-io-api.com

Edit Open Team Chats

  1. Select the three dot menu to the right of the chat to view additional options. Individual Chats will provide the option to Hide or Mute the conversation

    1. Hiding a conversation will move it to the Hidden tab

    2. Muting a conversation will allow you to stop notifications

  2. Group Chats will provide options to View Details, Hide, Mute, Archive, and Leave the conversation


Send a Message in the Dental Intelligence Mobile App

  1. Install/open the Dental Intelligence mobile app on your smartphone

  2. In the mobile app main menu, tap Team Chat to start chatting with your team

Important note: If you are logged into Dental Intelligence on your computer, the mobile app does not push Team Chat notifications to your phone. Team Chat push notifications are sent to your phone only if you are logged out of Dental Intelligence on your computer.
