In order to message a patient that does not yet exist in your Practice Management Software, you must create an Unlinked Patient in Modento. Refer to the following steps to do this:

Creating an Unlinked Patient
Step by Step Instructions:
Access your Patients tab
Select the Create Patient button
Fill in patient information in the necessary fields
Click Create

Note: Through this process, the patient will be added to Modento as an Unlinked Patient. This process will NOT add them to your Practice Management Software (Open Dental, EagleSoft, Dentrix)
Messaging an Unlinked Patient
Step by Step Instructions:
Now that the patient has been created in Modento, select the Three Dot Menu next to their initials
Click Communication
Choose whether to send a Formatted Email or a Direct Message

Connecting Unlinked Patient to Patient Chart in Practice Management Software
Step by Step Instructions:
To avoid creating duplicate patients, you can make a patient chart within your Practice Management Software directly from an unlinked patient
Go to the Patient in Modento
Select the Three Dot Menu
Hover over Settings
Access the Patient Chart Settings
Then click the Create in PMS button. This will create the patient with the exact same contact details and date of birth as in Modento
Note: If you add the patient in your Practice Management Software with the same contact information as provided in the Unlinked Patient portion of Modento, we will automatically link the chart
