Engagement: Online Scheduling Widgets

Learn how to create an online scheduling widget for your dental practice's website

As the world becomes increasingly digitized, many businesses and organizations are turning to online scheduling as a way to streamline their operations and improve customer satisfaction. By providing a scheduling widget on your website, new and existing patients can easily make an appointment without any hassle. Online scheduling widgets will show 6 months worth of availabilities.

Create a Widget

  1. Click on Online Scheduling in the left side menu of Engagement, then click Settings

  2. Click on Widgets

  3. Click on the Create Widget button

  4. Fill out the following fields:

    1. Provide an internal name for your staff

    2. Add a button name that will be visible to patients on your website

    3. Select a custom scheduling link from the dropdown menu. This is the link that patients will be directed to when they click on the button

  5. Once you've customized your widget, you'll need to choose how you'd like it to be positioned on your website

  6. Click Create to finish

Note about Google Analytics tracking: If you have enabled Google Tag Manager in Online Scheduling General Settings or added a GA4 Measurement ID to a custom link, patient leads and acquisition details are captured, providing you greater insights into your site traffic. Click here to learn more.


Add Widget Code to Your Site

Your widget code can be copied from the widget details in Engagement:

  1. Click on Online Scheduling, then click Settings from the left side menu in Engagement

  2. Click on Widgets

  3. Locate the widget that you would like to add to your website. Click on the 3-dot menu, then click Details

  4. Copy the generated widget code by clicking Copy Code

  5. Once copied, share the code with your web developer to have it to pasted to your practice website

Important note: Be sure to add the online scheduling widget code on all of the site pages that you would like to show the widget. The online scheduling widget will only be visible on pages that contain the code.

Once the code has been added to your website, your site will now show an online scheduling widget/button:

Note: Your web developer will assist you with how the button will look on your website. Dental Intelligence does not assist with widget design or styling.

Clicking on the button will open the Engagement online scheduling window:

While you may choose to stylize widgets and/or buttons on your website that link directly to Engagement online scheduling, you cannot change or stylize the look/appearance of the Engagement online scheduling portal.


Manage Existing Widgets

On the Widgets section of Online Scheduling Settings, you will see a list of all practice widgets:

In your Widgets list, you'll discover valuable statistics like conversion rate and total scheduled appointments, providing insights into your practice's performance and helping you make informed decisions and plans.

If there is a hazard icon displayed, the custom scheduling link is broken and needs to be adjusted.

Click on the three dot menu to edit, hide, or delete the widget. Any updates you make will be reflected on your website automatically.
