Dentrix Ascend utilizes Schedule Templates to set up time slots on your schedule that allow you to prioritize booking specific appointment types within those blocks.

Create a Schedule Template in Dentrix Ascend

  1. To add time slots, from the Dentrix Ascend Settings menu, click Schedule Template

  2. Select the operatory that you want to add a time slot in

  3. Select a day of the week, and then click a time or drag from the start time to the end time for that time slot. For example, if you want to reserve Monday from 9 AM to 12 PM for high production scheduling, drag to capture those three hours

The Time Slot dialog box opens for the selected day and time frame:
    โ€‹

  4. Give this time slot a title, and select which providers should be booked during this time slot. Select a unique color for this time slot so it contrasts on the schedule with other time slots you might create for low production or emergency appointments

๐Ÿ“Œ Important note: Engagement Online Scheduling does not recognize the appointment color, appointment type, or appointment reason set in Dentrix Ascend. Rather, Engagement Online Scheduling will recognize what has been set in the practice-level service.

  5. This is how the time slot looks on the Schedule Template page in Dentrix Ascend (Notice how the operatory now has an 'M' for Monday on it)

To save time, if you want this high production time slot to appear on other days of the week, you can click the Copy time slot icon to duplicate the time slot and then click on the day and time you want the copied time slot to be placed. The copy function will also let you copy this time slot to the next operatory.

To see the time slots you've created, open the View menu, and then set the Show template time slots switcher to On.

This is how the time slots look in the Dentrix Ascend Calendar:

Assign Dentrix Ascend Schedule Templates to Practice-Level Services in Engagement

Engagement Online Scheduling is able to read schedule templates set in Dentrix Ascend and you can set up practice-level services to allow scheduling for these services only within these specific blocks.

๐Ÿ“Œ Important note: Engagement Online Scheduling does not recognize the appointment color, appointment type, or appointment reason set in the Dentrix Ascend time slot. Rather, Engagement Online Scheduling will recognize what has been set in the practice-level service.

From within the practice-level service in Engagement, select the checkbox to allow scheduling only in specific blocks. The dropdown list will include the schedule template titles that you have created in Dentrix Ascend.
