If you use Dentrix Ascend as your practice management software, here's how to prepare treatment plans in Ascend so that they can be send to your patients from Engagement.
How to Assign Procedures to a Tx Planner Case in Ascend
In Dentrix Ascend, open the patient chart by searching for the patient and clicking on their name
From the patient overview, click on Treatment Plan
From the Tx Planner tab, select the Unassigned case in the Active category
Select the check boxes of the recommended treatment. Then, from the Move To button menu, click New Case
Click the pencil icon to edit the name of the treatment plan. Enter the new case name, and then click Rename
A new case has now been created, and the selected procedures are moved to it.
If the treatment plan in Ascend has not been assigned to a case, it will not show up as an available plan for the patient in Engagement.

How to Send an Ascend Treatment Plan in Engagement
Treatment plans created in Dentrix Ascend sync automatically with Engagement. Once you've prepared your treatment plan in Ascend, it can then be sent to the patient from your Engagement dashboard.
Important notes about how Engagement pulls treatment plans from Dentrix Ascend
Treatment plan separation in Engagement is based on visits, not dates. Engagement will not show any codes in a visit besides what is included in Visit 1.
Insurance estimates shown on the treatment plan are not accurate.
If you notice any inconsistencies with how the the Ascend treatment plan is shown in Engagement, just change the case status in Ascend and then refresh Engagement to reload the plan. You can revert the status back again immediately after if necessary.
Navigate to the Patient Finder by clicking on the Patients dropdown in the lefthand menu, then click Patient Finder
Select the three-dot menu next to the patient's initials, then hover over Forms and click Prepare a treatment plan
Next, make the following selections:
Choose how the treatment plan should be sent (to a kiosk or directly to the patient)
Select the treatment plan from the dropdown list (Note: If the treatment plan has not been assigned to a case in Ascend, it will not show up as an available plan for the patient in Engagement)
If desired, filter the plan by stage (by default, all visits included in the treatment plan are shown)
Select the checkboxes under Treatment plan columns to include or remove the Detailed Fees per Procedure Visibility and Hide Code Column to remove codes from the content
Now you can fully customize the document that appears on the right side in the content window. Use the format menu to make desired changes
In addition to customizing the text of the treatment plan, you can also embed images by clicking on the photo icon or by copying and pasting them directly into the treatment plan. Adding images to a your treatment plans will assist you in educating your patients about their diagnosed procedure, which can in turn lead to an increase in treatment acceptance! Click here to download treatment plan images.Next, manually calculate the insurance contributions and adjust the estimated patient portion. Click on the Treatment costs box to insert a new row
βOnce the row has been inserted, you can manually calculate the insurance estimate and benefits information
Select applicable Payment Options and adjust the Total Treatment Plan Cost (Value of treatment cost must match patients out of pocket cost regardless of applying a payment option or not)
π Note: If you would like to require patient to choose payment option, select the 'Force patient to select a payment option' checkbox
βChoose to select any additional settings:
Send an emailed copy to the patient after signing
Present as a QR-code that the patient can scan and view on their personal device (if signing on a kiosk)
Require Patient Initials to View Treatment Plan (if signing on a kiosk)
Attach consents for selected procedures (once the patient accepts the treatment plan, they will then be prompted to complete the related consent)
Attach a Treatment Refusal Consent upon plan rejection (click here to learn more about Treatment Refusal Consents)
Select Send and Close to complete
