Create Audio Clips for DI Voice

How to upload and manage audio clips for use in IVR menus and greetings — uploading files, recording from the browser, renaming, and deleting clips.

Audio clips are reusable audio files that can be attached to IVR menus and other telephony features. Upload a greeting, an on-hold message, or a menu prompt once, then reference it wherever you need it.

To get started, navigate to the Audio Clips tab in the sidebar menu of the DI Voice portal. The Audio Clips dashboard shows all audio clips for the account, including an inline audio player, recording duration, and creation date.

Record an Audio Clip

  1. Click on Audio Clips in the sidebar menu of the DI Voice portal

  2. Click the Upload Audio Clip button in the top-right corner

  3. Click the Record button, then click Start Recording to start recording your message (Note: In order to record clips directly from your browser, you must grant microphone access when prompted. If you do not grant microphone access, you'll see a 'Microphone access was denied' error and will be unable to record your message)

  4. When finished, click Stop to end the recording

  5. Press the play icon to listen to your recorded clip. If you're happy with the recording, click Use Recording. If you'd like to record it again, click Discard to start over

  6. To finish, name the clip (e.g., "Main Greeting" or "After-Hours Message") then click Upload

If your upload is successful, your recorded clip will show in the clip library.

Important notes about clip files

  • Files must be 5 MB or smaller

  • The system transcodes uploads to a format optimized for telephony playback

  • Clip names must be unique within an account

Rename an Audio Clip

Click the pencil icon on the desired clip, enter the new name, and click Save.

Delete an Audio Clip

Click the trash icon on the desired clip and confirm deletion. If the clip is currently referenced by a dial plan menu node, you must remove it from all menus before it can be deleted.

Deleted clips cannot be recovered.
