AI Receptionist enhancements
Recognize family members during calls
Once AI Receptionist verifies a caller as an existing patient, it recognizes their family members based on the family setup in your practice management system. The caller can then book appointments for those family members in the same call (eg, a parent can schedule a visit for their child).
Transfer calls to a human
You can now decide when the AI Receptionist hands a call to your team. In AI Receptionist settings, turn on “Allow AI Receptionist to transfer calls during office hours” and choose when transfers happen: when a patient asks to speak with someone, when the Receptionist can’t help, or both. Then enter the phone number to transfer calls to. Before transferring, the Receptionist asks the caller, “I can forward you to a staff member. Would you like me to proceed?” and only transfers once the patient says yes.
Set the Receptionist's voice
Choose the voice your AI Receptionist uses so it matches the tone of your practice. In AI Receptionist settings, browse the available voices, select the play button to hear a sample, and pick the one you want. Select Save, and the Receptionist uses that voice on all calls until you change it.
Practices that don't customize their Receptionist's voice use the default voice, Veda Sky.
Recognize the patient's preferred name when verifying patient info
Patients often go by a name that differs from their legal first name. The AI Receptionist now checks the preferred name saved in your PMS, so patients can verify their identity using either their first name or their preferred name. This also works for family members.
Collect appointment deposits during calls
If a service requires a reservation deposit, the AI Receptionist tells the caller the deposit amount and asks whether they’d like to continue. If the caller agrees, they receive a payment link by text message and email after the call ends. The appointment is added to your practice management system once the deposit is paid. If the payment isn’t completed within the allowed time, the pending appointment is canceled and the time slot is released. If the caller declines, no appointment is booked.
Emergency tag added to call notifications in Personal Assistant inbox
When the AI Receptionist detects a possible emergency during a call, the notification in your Personal Assistant inbox now carries an Emergency tag, so your team can spot urgent calls quickly and follow up first.
New AI Receptionist dashboard metrics
Two new widgets on the AI Receptionist dashboard show how calls are going:
Emergency Calls Detected shows how many calls the Receptionist flagged as possible emergencies in the selected time frame, with a comparison to the previous week.
Patient Sentiment is a chart that breaks calls into Positive, Negative, and Neutral. The percentage of positive calls appears at the center of the chart.
Updates to the Engagement Module
Call Pops refresh
Call Pops have a fresh new look. When a patient calls, the redesigned pop gives your team the key details they need in one view, with quick actions to help during the call.
What you’ll see
Patient details: name, tags and status icons, contact information, age, date of birth, guardian status, and patient ID.
Visit and insurance information: last visit, next appointment, preferred provider, and insurance status. If the next appointment is unconfirmed, you can confirm it right from the screen pop.
Balance: the outstanding balance, with options to send a payment request or collect payment. Expand it for an aging breakdown and payment plan status.
Unscheduled treatment: the total value, with options to propose or schedule it.
Unscheduled family members: how many family members still need an appointment, with quick links to schedule them.
Hygiene due date: shown for the patient and unscheduled family members.
Open Team Tasks: open tasks with type, due date, and assigned team member.
Preview embedded widget types
When you set up a new embedded widget type, you can now preview how it will look before it goes live. An embedded button appears in the middle of the preview page, and selecting it opens the preview. The embedded view appears as a preview of your scheduling flow.
Customize the Appointment Cancellation TouchPoint™ send timing
You can now choose how soon after a cancellation your patients receive the follow-up message. In the Appointment Cancellation TouchPoint™ settings, enter the number of hours (from 1 to 72) to wait before sending. Messages still avoid very early and very late hours. Messages already scheduled are not changed.
Voice calls added to Communication Logs
Voice requires a subscription. Don't have Voice yet? Connect with our sales team to get a demo!
Communication Logs now include Voice calls. Search by patient name and see each call’s status (answered, outbound, or missed, with duration and a voicemail indicator), the date and time, who called whom, patient and practice sentiment, and an expandable summary. Filter by status or sentiment.

Explorer is now your default landing page
Effective this month, Explorer is the first page you see after logging in to the Analytics-only portal. If your user account has access to Explorer, you’ll land there automatically, so you can start asking questions about your practice data right away. Learn more about Explorer.
Good to know
If you’ve already chosen your own startup page, nothing changes. You’ll keep landing on the page you picked. To change it, go to My Profile > Startup.
If your account doesn’t have access to Explorer, your login experience stays the same.
This change applies only to the Analytics-only portal. Users in the unified dashboard won’t see any change to their login experience.
