The short version
Your subscription price has not changed. Any difference is in the sales tax line.
Sales tax is set by state and local governments. Dental Intelligence is required to collect it and send it directly to them. We don’t keep any of it.
We are actively updating our invoicing to reflect changes in state and local tax rates and newly applicable taxes.
A new invoice layout begins with invoices issued on November 1, 2026. Your charges are the same, only the format is different.
Why did my tax amount change?
Tax rules vary by state, county, and city, and they change often. Dental Intelligence updates its invoicing as state and local governments change rates or add new taxes. We also recently updated the system we use to calculate sales tax. Because different systems can round or apply local rates slightly differently, some customers will see a small difference, typically from a few cents to a few dollars, compared with previous months.
Why am I being charged sales tax when I wasn’t before?
As Dental Intelligence has grown, more states now require us to collect sales tax from customers located there, and we have registered accordingly. If your practice is in one of those states or local areas, you will now see sales tax on your invoice. This is required by law. It is not a price increase or a new fee from Dental Intelligence.
How can I confirm what changed on my invoice?
Compare your most recent invoice with the two or three before it:
Check the subscription and product lines. These should match your previous invoices.
Check the tax line. Look for a small difference in the amount, or a new tax charge where it was $0.00 before.
Calculate the difference between the tax amounts on the two invoices.
If your subscription or product charges changed, that’s not a tax change. Contact our billing team and we’ll review it with you.
Can the tax be removed?
Because sales tax is required by law where your practice is located, we can’t waive or remove it.
If your practice is tax-exempt, we’re happy to review that. Send your exemption certificate to our billing team at billing@dentalintel.com, and they’ll review it. If you believe tax was applied in error, contact the same team.
Why does my invoice look different? (Invoices from November 1, 2026)
Starting with invoices issued on November 1, we’re introducing a new, clearer layout. Your charges are the same; they’re presented differently. Highlights:
Invoice summary: Invoice number, account number, dates, terms, and amount due appear together at the top.
Charges grouped by location: If you have multiple locations, each location’s charges are listed separately with its address.
Subscriptions and one-time/usage fees separated: Recurring subscription fees are shown apart from one-time and usage-based charges.
Itemized taxes and fees: A dedicated section lists the taxes for each location, including the tax authority and level (state, county, or city).
