Engagement: How to Edit and Create Consents

Learn how to to edit and customize existing consents as well as create a new consent in Engagement

Engagement provides you with a library of industry standard consents that were created and developed by our team members with firsthand experience in the dental field. Our consents require minimal customizations so that you can start using them right away, with just a few small changes.

Note: In order to edit Consents in Engagement, you must be an Admin user. If you are an Admin user and don't see the Edit pencil icon, please contact Support for assistance.

Consent Customization Options

Within Engagement, you have the ability to make the following changes to consents on your own:

  • Create a new consent from scratch

  • Modify existing fields

  • Add new consent fields

  • Create a new page in an existing consent

Need to make other changes? Please contact Support for help with the following:

  • Modifying consent names

  • Modifying/removing non-editable fields

  • Changing the consent category

  • Deleting consents

Please submit your consent change requests to support@dentalintel.com. Please allow 5 business days for your customization request to be completed.


Edit an Existing Consent

  1. Click on Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right hand corner

  2. Select the Consents tab

  3. Search for consents in the library using the search bar or click on each category to view Sub Categories

  4. Click on the pencil icon (Note: If you are an Admin user and don't see the Edit pencil icon, please contact Support for assistance)

  5. Select a Page and click into the content

  6. To edit a consent, select the text line or text box

  7. Type content, use the top menu to adjust formatting, and insert placeholders as needed

  8. Use the plus sign bubble (+) to add new fields and formatted questions

  9. Click the Hide or Delete buttons to remove content from patient view

  10. Select Publish at the top right hand side of your screen when changes are complete


Create a New Consent

  1. Access the Settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper right hand corner

  2. Select the Consents tab

  3. Click on the Create a new consent button

  4. Fill out the Name, Category, and Sub Category fields. If necessary, select to also create corresponding form versions for minor or in Spanish

  5. Select the Create button

  6. Select the pencil icon to edit (Note: If you are an Admin user and don't see the Edit pencil icon, please contact Support for assistance)

  7. Select a Page and click into the content bubble on the right side

  8. To edit any category, select the text line or text box

  9. Type content, use the top menu to adjust formatting, and insert placeholders as needed

  10. Use the plus sign bubble (+) to add new fields and formatted questions

  11. Click the Hide or Delete buttons to remove content from patient view

  12. Select Publish at the top right hand side of your screen when changes are complete


Including Photos in Consents

Embed a Photo in a Consent Block

If you would like to embed an image or infographic in a consent, simply create a new block of text field when editing your consent. Follow the steps below to learn how!

  1. From the Consents editor, click the plus sign (+) bubble and select Block of Text as the field type from the dropdown list

  2. In the newly created field, click on the picture icon to upload an image from your computer

  3. Select Publish at the top right hand side of your screen when changes are complete

Add a Photo Field to Upload Patient Photos

If you would like to include photos taken of patients/op sites (ie attach patient photos to a post-op consent), create a Photo field that the patient can tap on while they are signing the consent. Follow the steps below to learn how!

  1. From the Consents editor, click the plus sign (+) bubble and select Photo as the field type from the dropdown list

  2. Enter the question name to describe the photo request so that the patient knows what photos to upload when they are completing the consent

  3. Select Publish at the top right hand side of your screen when changes are complete
