Within your Engagement dashboard, you can view and manage notifications that will let you know exactly what is going on within your practice. Refer to the information in this article to learn how to manage incoming notifications.

Here is a video that covers how to navigate the Inbox in Engagement:

Any forms submitted through Engagement will automatically write in to your practice management software. It will also generate a PDF copy of that document and write directly in to the necessary fields to the patient’s chart.

To keep track of all paperwork being submitted and generated, the Engagement inbox will have the information you need, stored in these notifications here:

Note: When you receive an email in your inbox, Engagement autodetects signature fields on emails and prevents them from loading. This helps ensure that your dashboard stays clean and uncluttered, allowing your office to practice smarter!

Inbox Notification Types

There are two different types of notifications within the Engagement Inbox:

Actionable notifications are alerts that let you know that you have received information that requires a manual action from a team member. Actionable notifications can be identified by the checkmark box on the upper righthand corner.

Non-actionable notifications are alerts that let you know that you have received information that does not require any manual action from a team member.

Actionable Notifications

Examples of Actionable Notifications include:

  • Patient payments

  • Appointment requests

  • Covid-19 form (if any of the symptom questions have been answered yes)

  • Any forms that are submitted before a patient chart is created in Dentrix

  • By request of the support team, any patient paperwork can be made actionable

Click on Show Details to see the action that needs to be taken.

Checking the box on the upper righthand corner allows you to close the notification from your main Inbox to move it safely into the Archived folder.

A note about payment notifications

Patient payment notifications in the Inbox are automatically written back and archived for Eaglesoft and Open Dental users if you have automatic Payment settings enabled.

If you do not have automatic Payment settings enabled, you must manually click Post to Ledger on each payments notification and then select the checkbox in the upper right corner to move it to the Archived folder.

Dentrix users: Patient payment notifications must be manually posted to the ledger.

Non-actionable Notifications

Examples of Non-actionable Notifications include:

  • Sent messages

  • Completed forms

  • Signed forms/consents

  • Signed treatment plans

Click on the "x" in the upper right corner of a notification to move it to the Archived folder.

Filter Inbox Messages

As each notification appears in Engagement, there will be a color-coded tag added automatically.

Click on the different Filter types to show notifications that have been tagged with one of the options seen below:

Archive Inbox Notifications

Checking the box on the upper righthand corner allows you to close the notification from your main Inbox to move it safely into the Archived folder.

Archive actionable notifications: Select the checkbox in the upper right corner to move the notification to the Archived folder.

Archive non-actionable notifications: Click on the "x" in the upper right corner to move the notification to the Archived folder.

Access the Archived Notifications folder from the left side menu of the Inbox. Notifications moved into the Archived folder are not permanently deleted, you will always have a record of them here.

If you would like to move a notification from the Archived folder back to the Inbox folder, click on the file box in the upper right corner to unarchive the notification.
