Learn how to adjust appointment time length in Open Dental for accuracy in LocalMed

Adjust appointment time length to ensure there is an adequate amount of time blocked off for each appointment that is scheduled. Follow the instructions outlined below to adjust the appointment length in LocalMed:

Adjust the Length of an Appointment

First, map appointment codes/ types in LocalMed

  1. Login to your LocalMed portal and select the Practice Overview tab

  2. From the LocalMed Connect module, navigate to the Appointment types connected section and click on the gear icon

  3. From the Appointment Types module on the right hand side, select Mapped

  4. Make note of each code/appointment type listed on the left hand side, which have been pulled from Open Dental (You'll need these codes in the next step)

Next, adjust the appointment length in Open Dental

Now that you know the appointment codes/types that you would like to adjust, follow the instructions below to change the appointment length in Open Dental:

  1. From Open Dental, click on List then Procedure Codes

  2. In the top left of the dialog box, type in the description (Note: Use the description of the appointment you made note of from the LocalMed portal)

  3. After locating the appointment type that needs to be adjusted, double-click on it and a dialog box like the one shown below will appear

  4. Click and drag the box in the far left column up or down to change the time of the appointment. You will see the time adjust in the bottom left corner of the dialog box

  5. Click OK

Note: LocalMed will reflect the appointment length change after the next automated sync and will show in the LocalMed portal.
