Want to attach a statement to a payment request so that your patients understand their outstanding balance? No problem! Follow our step-by-step guides below to learn how to attach an individual statement or do so in bulk!

Attach a statement to single payment request

  1. Click on the 3-dot menu next to the patient's name

  2. Hover over Payments and then click Send a Payment Request

  3. Click the checkbox to attach a statement and choose from the following options:

  • DI Statement: Use a native statement generated by Dental Intelligence (click Preview to see the statement before it is sent)

  • Load from Open Dental: Use the most recent statement from your practice management software (Available for all Open Dental users)

  • Upload file: Upload a statement file from your computer

A note about loading statements from Open Dental

By default, Engagement pulls patient statements from Open Dental in the document folder called "Patient Statements". The patient statement must be saved in this document folder in order for Engagement to be able to read/pull the statement.

If you notice that the preview isn't working or the statement isn't loading into Engagement, it's likely because the patient statement hasn't been saved in the Open Dental Patient Statements folder.

If you would like to configure Engagement to pull statements from a different folder in Open Dental, please contact DI Support for assistance.

Attach statements to a bulk payment request

From the bulk payment request window, click the checkbox to attach a DI statement.

Click Preview to open an example of the statement before sending it to patients.
