In some instances, you may need to associate certain services and/or procedure types with a non-practicing provider by creating a faux user in Analytics that can be linked to the desired provider ID.

Once the faux user is created, it is now mappable and can be associated with the desired ID as it is labeled in your practice management software.

Example: If your practice offers supplies like prescriptions, mouthwash, canker sore treatments, or bleach trays, you may want to associate these services with a code in your practice management software. Map this code to a "faux user" in Analytics to have more visibility on the amount of supplies that your practice sells.

To create a faux user and map a non-practicing provider:

  1. First, create a faux user in Analytics that does not need to be activated. Click on Settings

  2. Navigate to the Team Management tab, then click on the blue Add Team Member button

  3. Enter an email address for the faux user, then click Next (This does not necessarily need to be a working email address, as you will not have to activate this user to complete the mapping)

  4. Give the user a name that will help you identify the user, then click Next (in this example, we have named the user Bleach Trays)

  5. Because a role is required in order to create a new user, select any role from the options listed (the chosen role does not affect mapping), then click Next

  6. Because this is a faux user, you do not need to set permissions. Click Next

  7. If necessary, choose the locations that this user should show for, then click Next

  8. Lastly, select the Provider ID(s) that you would like to link this new user to, then click Send Invite (reminder, this is a faux user so you do not need to worry about confirming the user via email)

  9. Once the user has been created, navigate to the Provider Pulse and locate the user that you have created

  10. Click on the ( i ) icon next to the user name to review the mapped ID(s)
