When communicating confidential HIPAA-related information with patients, it's important to maintain HIPAA-compliant procedures so that your patient's information remains private and secure.

Communications via email and text are not HIPAA-compliant ways of communication, so it's advised not to send any health-related, sensitive information via those channels. Emails sent within Engagement are sent using encryption but it cannot be guaranteed that the device the patient receives the email on is protected.

If you're looking for a HIPAA-compliant method of communicating with patients, messaging within the Modento Patient Mobile App is built to be HIPAA-compliant. The Modento Patient Mobile App requires a PIN or face/fingerprint recognition which is how we achieve compliance.

Remember that HIPAA compliance is an ongoing effort that requires vigilance and continuous improvement. Regularly review and update your practices to stay aligned with changing regulations and best practices in data privacy and security.
