In addition to the pre-set multi-codes, you can add multi-codes in Dentrix to meet your specific needs and create appointment types to pull through in LocalMed

How to Add a Multi-Code/Appointment Type in Dentrix

  1. In the Maintenance menu in the Office Manager, go to Practice Setup, and then select Multi-Code Setup

  2. In the Multi-Code Setup tab, click the New Button

  3. Complete the following fields in the Multi-Code Editor tab:

    • Description - Add a description of multi-code by clicking into the text box and typing

    • Multi-Code - Type three alphanumeric characters to represent the code that you are adding

    • Abbrev. Desc. - Add an abbreviated description

    • Appointment Type - Select an appropriate appointment type from the drop down menu. (This usually comes in to play during Perfect Day Scheduling so don't mess with this setting unless instructed to)

    • Procedure Time - Select the Search Button and choose the number of time units that will be included in the Appointment Book for your new multi-code. For more information about Setting Procedure Times, click here

    • Type - Click the appropriate bubble to categorize as either a Standard or Bridge Multi-Code

  4. Then click Add

  5. Select ADA Code or Dental Diagnostic Code (DDC will be rarely used) in the Add Code tab

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Choose the ADA Code or Dental Diagnostic Code

    • or click the corresponding Search Button, select the appropriate code from the list, and click OK

Note: Depending on the procedure code you selected, a group box appears allowing you to select the surfaces, quadrant, or sextant appropriate to the procedure code. Dentrix flags multi-codes consisting of one or more procedures that require additional treatment information, such as a tooth number, with an asterisk (*) in the Procedure Codes List. You must supply this additional information before you can post a multi-code

  7. Click OK to save your changes

  8. If necessary, follow steps 5 through 8 to continue adding additional procedure codes

  9. When you have finished adding procedure codes, click OK to close the Multi-Code Editor dialog box and save the multi-code you created. Dentrix will then add the multi-code to your database
